Graduate-level Career-up Programs for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

At Osaka University, in order to more effectively promote human resource development in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology, a field of education and research that is remarkably interdisciplinary and budding, the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Research Promotion Organization of Osaka University began offering the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Research Training Program for graduate school (master and doctoral students) and adult education across all university graduate schools, research institutes and centers conducting nano-related research in 2004. In order to promote human resource development in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology research more effectively, the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Research Promotion Organization of Osaka University began offering a nano-advanced interdisciplinary education and research training program for graduate school (master’s and doctoral students) and adult education.
This program was supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) under the Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology (Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology) for the five years from 2004 to 2008. Based on the results of this program, the Nanoscience Design Education and Research Center, which was established in 2008, has continued to develop this program since 2009 with support from the government’s Special Education and Research Fund. In addition, the Osaka University Consortium for Human Resource Development in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, which was established in 2008 in collaboration with Osaka University and a group of companies, is also providing strong support for the promotion of this program. To date, more than 1,500 students have enrolled in the program and more than 1,300 have completed it. We look forward to the active participation of graduate students and working adults who are interested in nano-related fields.
